The Exchange Brewery is pleased to announce that its Flanders Red Ale (330ml) will be available at LCBO stores across Ontario, as of Friday, February 22, 2019.
The Exchange’s Flanders-esque ale is aged in red wine barrels and blended to produce a complex sour masterpiece. This exquisite ale won the gold medal last year (2018) at the Mondial de la Bière / Greg Noonan MBeer Contest in Montréal, Québec and a silver medal (Farmhouse Dark Ale Category) at the 2017 Ontario Brewing Awards.
Tasting Notes – Deep amber in colour with a fruity and funky nose. A complex sourness backed with light caramel, black cherries and ripe stone fruits.
Broad Appeal – With a solid ABV of 7%, a beautiful complexity and funk, the Flanders Red Ale is already one of The Exchange’s favourite offerings among beer connoisseurs. The new small format makes it a perfect introduction to sour beer for the novice beer enthusiast.
A Great Aging Potential – Bottled in an elegant black 330ml Italian sparkling wine bottle, this beer is bottle-conditioned, resulting in a long shelf life and shelf stability (i.e, refrigeration is not required). Properly cellared (stored upright, in a cool and dark space), it can be aged for up to 3 years and will develop more sour and complex notes. Collectors will enjoy tasting the progression of the beer as it matures and develops with age.
Suggested Food Pairings – Typical Belgian fare such as mussels and fries. A Fresh green salad with nuts and goat cheese. Creamy cheeses with fruit compote.
This product is a Spring Seasonal listing; part of The Exchange Brewery’s rotational sour selection at the LCBO. The Flanders Red Ale will be replaced by the Cerise in the Summer, and Grand Cru in the Fall. Limited volumes available.
