Niagara-on-the-Lake, May 30th, 2019 – After last year’s success, The Exchange Brewery is pleased to announce that its Peach Pi (330ml) is returning to LCBO stores across Ontario, for the summer (hitting shelves beginning of June).
Being in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s “Peach Country”, The Exchange Brewery naturally came up with a Peach Ale, but with their own signature “sour twist”. This Blonde Ale began with a short lactic fermentation in the kettle, before its journey to wine barrels. It was aged on a generous amount of peaches with cinnamon bark, vanilla beans and a touch of Brettanomyces.
The Exchange’s Peach Pi was first launched in February 2018, in the brewery’s tasting room and in November 2018, in LCBO stores, as part of The Exchange’s seasonal rotational sour offering. It was tremendously successful, and The Exchange simply could not wait to bring it back to shelves again this year.
“We love being able to source most of the fruit we use at The Exchange from local orchards. Wild yeast living on the fruit skins brings that local terroir into our brewery, barrels and eventually the bottles. Our Peach Pi has a great balance of tartness and fruit flavour. It finishes dry with a nose reminiscent of ripe fruit and August evenings in Niagara.” says Sam Maxbauer, Head Brewer at The Exchange Brewery.
“The Peach Pi is back by popular demand! We had so many requests from LCBO stores for another seasonal rotation that we knew we had to make it happen. We’re thrilled to reintroduce the Peach Pi just in time for summer – its tart and fruity profile pair perfectly with patio season.” says Robin Ridesic, CEO/Founder of The Exchange Brewery.
Tasting notes and food pairings: With notes of vanilla bean and peach fuzz, the Peach Pi is slightly tart on the palate with a smack of fruit, followed by whispers of cinnamon. It is sure to be the perfect companion to your summer barbecues, pairing beautifully with seafood spreads, grilled meats and vegetables, green salads with nuts and cheese, cheesecakes and fruit salads.
Broad Appeal: Its small 330ml format, well-balanced flavours and semi-sweet finish, make it a perfect introduction to sour beer for the novice beer enthusiast.
This beer is bottle-conditioned, resulting in a long shelf life and shelf stability (i.e, refrigeration is not required). Beer collectors will enjoy tasting the progression of the beer as it matures and develops with age.
